Streaming:
The Durrells in Corfu- This comedy-drama is an adaptation from the memoirs of famous conservationist, Gerald Durrell. Set in the 1930’s, a widow moves from England to Greece with her 4 children, ages 11-21.
Grantchester- A handsome vicar teams up with a gruff detective in this British mystery set in 1950’s England. Questions of faith, ethics, and love come up often in this thought-provoking drama.
Call the Midwife- Set in 1950’s-60’s based on memoirs by Jennifer Worth. Call the Midwife follows the nurses, midwives and nuns from Nonnatus House, who visit the expectant mothers of Poplar, providing the poorest women with the best possible care.
Games:
Five Crowns- Card game similar to rummy. Great for 2 people or a crowd!
Super Mario Chess- a fun twist on an old classic
New York Times crossword puzzle- free daily mini puzzle, subscription required for full puzzles + archive access
Cooking:
Swiss Chard with Garbanzo Beans (Bietole e ceci)- use veggie bacon instead of pancetta for a vegetarian alternative & rainbow swiss chard for that Queer pizazz! :)
Broccoli, rice, cheese, casserole- natural ingredients without condensed soup for a classic dish.
Garbanzo Flour Soda Bread- quick & easy vegan + gluten-free bread. Add sweetener & cinnamon for a yummy treat or keep savory for a great blank canvas! Try as muffins in a tin for individual-ready portions, reduce baking time to 18-20 minutes.
